The ideal time depends on which part of the migration you wish to see. For the dramatic river crossings in the Northern Serengeti, target July to October. To see the herds in the Western Corridor (Grumeti), May to July is best. The Central and Southern Serengeti are prime from December to July. This itinerary's flexibility allows for tracking the herds across these regions.
This itinerary involves significant driving, especially on days moving between the Serengeti regions and to/from Ngorongoro. These drives are part of the adventure, often functioning as extended game drives themselves. We use comfortable, private vehicles to ensure the journey is part of the experience.
Tanzania is widely regarded as one of the most secure and welcoming tourist destinations in Africa. As with travel anywhere, we suggest exercising common-sense safety measures, particularly in cities.
We offer a range of accommodations, from comfortable lodges to authentic tented camps, all chosen for their location, service, and ability to enhance your safari experience. The exact standard can be tailored to your preference and budget.
While not overly strenuous, this is an adventurous trip. It involves long hours in a vehicle on rough roads and early morning starts. A general level of fitness and mobility is recommended for getting in and out of the vehicle and managing uneven terrain at camps.
Our professional guides are in constant communication with other drivers and park rangers and use their extensive knowledge of animal behavior and the ecosystem to locate the herds. While the migration's movement is predictable in its annual cycle, its exact location is dynamic, and our guides are experts at finding it.
